Join the entire PS 89 community for R4K — our high-energy, school-wide fun run in Rockefeller Park! Run, stroll, or scoot to celebrate the new school year. After the course, stick around for games, entertainment, and a pizza picnic. It’s the perfect way to kick off the year with fun, friends, and fresh air!

Kick off the year by creating space for families to get to know one another outside of the classroom. Organized by grade groups (PK-1, 2-5), socials foster a welcoming, inclusive environment right from the start of the year.

Get ready for a spook-tacular afternoon for the whole PS 89 community! Dress up in your Halloween best and strut your stuff around Rockefeller Park. Enjoy candy, treats, arts & crafts, and music for the whole family, all for free. Don’t miss this fang-tastic celebration!

One of our most beloved traditions, International Night brings the PS 89 community together for an unforgettable evening of food, games, music, and culture, all organized by our amazing parents! Families share the flavors and traditions of their heritage, giving everyone a chance to connect, learn, and celebrate the rich diversity that makes our school so special.

PS 89 students step out of the cold and move to the music while snapping photos with friends under glowing lights in the school cafeteria! Kids are encouraged to wear playful or festive attire and enjoy a night of laughter and community spirit.

The PS 89 Read-a-Thon is a 10-day, friendly, fierce and engaging competition that gets our students excited about books and reading! Students build reading habits, dive into their favorite books, and compete for prizes, all while raising money for our school.

A central PS 89 tradition for over 20 years, the Talent Show gives our students the opportunity to shine on stage and show off their myriad talents with the school community. Whether it’s singing, dancing, playing an instrument, telling jokes, or performing magic tricks, each act is a celebration of creativity and confidence.

Our school’s biggest fundraising event of the year, the Auction and Gala is an entertaining and elegant evening that brings parents and teachers together to support PS 89. The event features live and silent auctions with exciting items and experiences up for bid, delicious food and drinks, and plenty of chances to connect and celebrate our school community.

We wrap up the year with grade-based class picnics for students and families to celebrate the success of the school year together. Picnics offer a chance for families to connect, reflect, and send kids into summer on a joyful, community-filled note.
