PS 89 Spring Chess Tournament on March 22nd

Calling All Chess Players! 

Get ready for our second Chess Tournament of the school year! Please join neighborhood chess teacher extraordinaire, Michah Saperstein, for an introduction to tournament chess with trophies for top place finishers.  
Registration is open to all K-5 grade PS 89 students. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis, with only 40 spots available in total. Registration closes on Wednesday, March 19th.

Tournament Details
When: Saturday, March 22
Time: 9 am - noon
Location: PS 89 Cafeteria
Fee: $60 per child
What: Swiss-Style tournament comprised of four rounds. Every child will compete in all four rounds. Coach Michah will hold a group lesson about halfway through the tournament.

Note: 
- Please drop off your child by 9 am, so we can start the match ups on time.
- You can send nut-free snack and/or lunch with your child. There will be a 15 min break around 10.45 am.
- This is an unrated* tournament and for children playing at levels under 1100 Elo. The tournament will have separate divisions for Grades K-1 and 2-5. * this game does not impact a child's USCF rating if they have one.
- Please make payment directly to Coach Michah (details in sign-up sheet). Registration is complete only after making the payment.

We cannot hold this event without parent volunteers! We will ask a parent of each registered student consider signing up for at least one, 60-minute slot.
